The Dragon-sword is arisen at last
Re-forged in the flame and light of old.
Winged in the hand of its bearer it rises;
Through death and life and death again he lives.
The stars in the earth are freed at last
And their Guardian arisen in light.
The war is begun; the war shall now be won!
Through death and life and death again earth lives!
Long has the challenge of Nightmare reigned;
Now we answer it with the sword unsheathed!
This war, thought lost, shall be won, though fierce indeed
And fire proceeds to predestined throne!
The flame and whip of the Shadow’s pit
Has been defeated; it has met its match
And been found no match for the flame of the earth
The light and flame of the Dragon-sword!
The fire of darkness is overcome
By the fire of light in the darkness’ depth
And the whip of Nightmare by the Dragon-sword:
Triumph proceeds to predestined throne!

Thanks 🙂
There’s one other fairly like it in DragonSword. When I was writing that series, I was just exploring learning to write poetry, so most of the early poems in DragonBirth and DragonWing are a little clumsy, poetically-speaking.
By the way, check the post again if you want! I just realized I did not put in links to the poems for the two preceding novels in the series, and I’m going to fix that right now!

Of course!
Ooh, that’s really interesting. It’s cool to see how much writing improves over time, no matter how long you’ve been doing it! I’m not much of a poet myself, so I’m sure anything you’ve written is much better than anything I have 😛
Ooh, alright! Thanks for adding them!

Interestingly, other than the poetry, the style and writing is pretty consistent, despite the fact that some seven years elapsed between when I wrote the first half and when I wrote the second half. 🙂
