I got a real computer graphics program – GIMP – in late December of last year. Since then, I’ve been exploring how to use it and make various kinds of art with it. This is my first time doing character art (as opposed to monster art), as well as my first time (successfully) making a scene/background with it. Here is Lyan, Tara-lin’s younger brother from Sorceress of the Dryads, with his drake-lizard, Shobura.

Lyan is a half-elf, the youngest (and second) child of the one-time Valor Knight, Eldor, and the elf Lìrulin. He is shown here as a boy climbing in the trees with his drake-lizard, wearing the Elethrian Cloak almost all elves wear all the time and never allow away from themselves, showing just a touch of its real camouflaging power.
I don’t have a lot of snippets about Lyan, but here’s a short one about when he bonds to Shobura, the little mini dragon (they’re called drake-lizards) on his shoulder.
He deftly caught the chunk of meat thrown his way by the older elf. As it sailed towards them, the drake-lizard stretched herself out and shook her wings. She stretched her tiny quivering nose towards the meat and made a pitiful chirrup. “Here, here, I’m giving it to you, right now!” said Lyan.
