Hello, everyone. This one is going to be very short. If you want a bit of a fuller version, please visit my newsletter, since I'm going to be trying to move these kinds of posts over to that! I promise it's not too long, but it's a little less hasty than this one! I apologize …

May Updates and Fantastic News!

It's almost half-way through the year. As if anyone cares about these things. Also assuming you counted from January. I've always thought Spring was a more sensible place to count from, and I have one culture that doesn't count the year either by the stars or by the moons, but by the first real rain! …

October Updates and Expectations

On October 1, 2022December 2, 2023 By Raina NightingaleIn Paths of FantasyLeave a comment

It's October, and I will start with what I forgot about last month. I've recently decided that the Kaarathlon novels, previously Knights of the Promise and The Three Scrolls need new titles particularly Knights of the Promise. It's a long story how it got that title, but it was never an appropriate titles plus the …

September Updates and Expectations

On September 3, 2022December 3, 2023 By Raina NightingaleIn Paths of FantasyLeave a comment

Hello! I'm going to start by sharing what I completely forgot in last months updates: I told people that I was planning to release Wings of Healing, a Kaarathlon Novel, around this time of year. That is not happening. I decided the Kaarathlon Novels need to be re-titled and need new covers, since the current …

July Updates and Expectations

We're half-way through the year, and so far I only skipped one week to review, and that day my usual review day coincided with the release of Kindred of the Sea, just over a week ago! nfortunately, the Illustrated Edition is still not up on Amazon, leaving only the Compact Edition, and there is not …

June Updates and Expectations

On June 4, 2022December 9, 2023 By Raina NightingaleIn Paths of Fantasy2 Comments

Hello! It has been about half a year now since I split the blog and started reviewing regularly! This is also the month I have another book coming out, so I figured this deserves a slightly special post. Not sure what I'm going to do to make it special yet. By the way, if there's …

Slice of Life X Epic Fantasy for lovers of Pern and Valdemar. Illustrated.

DragonBirth, Return of the Dragonriders Book One, by Raina Nightingale. Cover art by Midnight Rose. Slice of life/cozy/mundane epic dragon rider fantasy with quasi-spiritual themes. Tender and sweet.

ERAGON X WIZARD OF EARTHSEA (so the readers have said!)

Heart of Fire by Raina Nightingale, Dragon-Mage Book One, Epic X Cozy Fantasy, with dragons who are far FAR more than pets, sibling bonds, platonic and non-romantic relationships, and an exceptional, unique, ancient and lived-in world, that has a non-european, non-medieval feel and inspirations. Were-dragons, dragon shifters, asexual and aromantic main characters, and a twist on the Chosen One trope. Unusual and character-driven with a deep dive in emotions and internal struggles, with flawed and realistic characters and responses.

Raina Nightingale

Raina Nightingale

Raina Nightingale has been writing fantasy since she could write stories with the words she could read (the same time that she started devouring books, too). Now she writes “slice of life” and epic dawndark fantasy, for fiction lovers interested in rich world-building, characters who feel like real people, and religious experiences. Raina thinks giant balls floating in space can have the same magic that fairytales teach us to look for in oak trees and stars. However, she has a lot of universes and while not all of them have giant balls floating in space, most of them have dragons of one sort or another!
