We’re half-way through the year, and so far I only skipped one week to review, and that day my usual review day coincided with the release of Kindred of the Sea, just over a week ago! nfortunately, the Illustrated Edition is still not up on Amazon, leaving only the Compact Edition, and there is not much I can do about it. I used a D2D ISBN for the Illustrated Edition, and Amazon doesn’t integrate the -979 ISBNs into their system well. D2D told me they’ll reach out to their print partners and see what they can do, but in the end, there’s not much we can do about it. It’s whether Amazon chooses to carry it or not. But you can get the Illustrated Edition from Barnes & Noble in the US and Waterstones in the UK (those stores are added in the book links).
I did not get a lot of writing done, and, frankly, I’m not going to even think about it. I did make a page with a list of my works-in-progress and approximate progress updates, that you can check out here. I’ve also decided to change the title of Knights of the Promise, so I’ve re-designed a cover for that change and I’m going to clean up some typos and re-lease it. Additionally, I’ve started to work on everything that needs to be done to release The Wings of Healing. The blurb or book description is giving me the most trouble. My first readers like what I have come up with, but it doesn’t tie together together well. The proof-reading definitely needs to be done: I was reading the ending for fun and found so much typos. And, of course, the cover needs to happen.
I’ve also decided to release an omnibus edition of Return of the Dragonriders (DragonBirth, DragonWing, DragonSword). I’ve made and designed the cover and it is lovely and striking, but I need to do a little formatting to put them all together, and I’d really like to clean up a few more typos every time I do this sort of thing, so it probably won’t be going up tomorrow! I’ll get the ebook up first, though, and then the paperback when that is ready, since the formatting for that is a lot more involved.
In the midst of all of this, making the cover for Gryphon’s Escape so that I can release my free short story is getting side-lined. But who knows? If a moment of inspiration strikes, it could be the first thing to happen.
On the blogging side of things, I may still end up taking a short break from reviewing to think about how I want to review and my developing thoughts on reviews. I vaguely intend to write more posts, but with everything going on and the fact I’m gravitating more towards fiction and the fact that Summer is the being tired season for me, that may not happen much. But I’ve invited the authors of this years Self-Published Fantasy Blog-Off over for a spotlight on the blog, and that is happening Wednesdays and Thursdays. You can see all the current spotlights here.
