The Soldiers looked around and caught
A man named Simon from Cyrene
Simon then came forward trembling
From Rome’s command he could not run
The Man who stooped beneath the cross
Then looked on Simon from Cyrene
And Simon felt at once His eyes
In return Simon met His gaze
The Soldiers called him King to mock
Simon knew Him King from Heaven
What Simon took for Rome’s cruel hand
Now he knew honor from Heaven
The thorn-crowned King had called him there
Joyously Simon would obey!
If omen of a cross was this
That criminal’s death was royal!
It was not Rome at all did this
Simon served the Highest High King
