Hello, everyone, it is June. And I’ve got a question for anyone who wants to answer it at the bottom.
Nearly halfway through the year, and Heart of Fire has been out for just around a month and a half. I’ve also entered it in the 9nth annual Self-Pubished Fantasy Blog-Off, if anyone cares about that.
I’m working on writing book four and a prequel telling the story of the creation of the were-dragons, and I am well into work on getting book two, Scars of Fire, ready to go! I’m doing a custom piece of art for every chapter header, using a motif or theme from that chapter, so that is going to be cool! We’ll see if I get around to any other artworks for the pages, but regardless I will find some way to include the custom chapter headers in the ebook. And I am hopeful for an October 2023 release date for Scars.
Here’s one of those header artworks. I’ve done slightly more than half of them by now, though I still have some difficult ones to figure out.

Heart of Fire is on 99cent sale on Smashwords right now, until the 7th of June. Kindred of the Sea and Children of the Dryads are also on 99cent sale – ending on June 4th.
What else? I read perhaps too many books in June. I might take a small break from reviews sometime in the Summer, as Summer can get really busy for me – we’ll see how that goes, since sometimes reviews are easier to write than other times
Anything anyone’d like to share or comment on? If you don’t have any ideas – what would you say has been your most unusual read of the year?
(Brought to you by a review for Heart of Fire that says this, and the fact that I recently read a pretty unusual book myself. That’s Winds of Chaos by Laura Brewer, and while you wait for a review that might take months to write – the short version is that it’s Christian Fantasy X Viking/Norse-inspired Fantasy.)
See you in the comments – or next month!
Congrats on your book release and good luck with the new projects! I’ve just added your ‘The Gifts of Faeri’ novella to my reading list on Kindle. I’m still working on my grimdark fantasy short story ‘Fereidun and the Pit of Snakes’, about a desert warrior called Harus, whose duties as a Saikuda and loyalty to his master Marchio Tiasis, affects his relationships with his best friend Fereidun and with his lover Risa.

I’ve recently had to take a break from it due to anxiety and other issues. I have a lot on my mind at the moment including a new job starting soon.
