Slice of Life X Epic Fantasy for lovers of Pern and Valdemar. Illustrated.

DragonBirth, Return of the Dragonriders Book One, by Raina Nightingale. Cover art by Midnight Rose. Slice of life/cozy/mundane epic dragon rider fantasy with quasi-spiritual themes. Tender and sweet.

ERAGON X WIZARD OF EARTHSEA (so the readers have said!)

Heart of Fire by Raina Nightingale, Dragon-Mage Book One, Epic X Cozy Fantasy, with dragons who are far FAR more than pets, sibling bonds, platonic and non-romantic relationships, and an exceptional, unique, ancient and lived-in world, that has a non-european, non-medieval feel and inspirations. Were-dragons, dragon shifters, asexual and aromantic main characters, and a twist on the Chosen One trope. Unusual and character-driven with a deep dive in emotions and internal struggles, with flawed and realistic characters and responses.

Raina Nightingale

Raina Nightingale

Raina Nightingale has been writing fantasy since she could write stories with the words she could read (the same time that she started devouring books, too). Now she writes “slice of life” and epic dawndark fantasy, for fiction lovers interested in rich world-building, characters who feel like real people, and religious experiences. Raina thinks giant balls floating in space can have the same magic that fairytales teach us to look for in oak trees and stars. However, she has a lot of universes and while not all of them have giant balls floating in space, most of them have dragons of one sort or another!
