October Updates and Expectations

Hello, it is October!

It’s Autumn again, and recently I’ve seen some conversations about the seasons in fantasy books, leading me to realize I actually write the season of Autumn or Fall a lot in my fantasy!

I’m not sure if it’s the season I write most, but I’m editing my debut trilogy, Return of the Dragonriders, right now, and I’m already a bit more than half-way through DragonWing. And – let me tell you, a lot of the important stuff happens from late Summer through early Winter. So basically, Autumn. Not everything, of course, but a lot.

And that’s pretty much the season covered in book one, DragonBirth. That one’s already finished going through the edits, and the revised ebook is available with a new cover from MidnightRose and fifteen by-the-author illustrations to liven it up. I don’t know if the paperback is available yet, since it isn’t as I write this, and for some reason I keep having problems with it.

You can see the cover reveal here.

Autumn/Fall aren’t as dominant in the Dragon-Mage series, but they’re definitely there. I think, in general, the Dragon-Mage series is a bit more balanced when it comes to significant things happening in the different seasons, but a good portion of Heart of Fire happens during the fall, as well as some of Scars of Fire.

Speaking of which …

Scars of Fire comes out this Tuesday! Which is pretty exciting, if you ask me. Now you can all continue along Camilla and Flameheart – and Sylvara and Lavilor’s – journey. You’ll get to see more of Sylvara’s dreams and her relationship with Lavilor. I really love Scars of Fire. I didn’t even realize some things about Camilla and Radiance’s relationship, that I think I at least should have seen coming, until this one.

Anyway, do you really want to listen to me ramble about how much I love my books? Or do you want to know that if you haven’t read Heart of Fire yet, it’s 99cents right now for Scars of Fire’s release. And Scars of Fire is 99cents, too, though it soon won’t. Because, I mean, you got your chance to get it at 99cents, but I need to make something, too, or I won’t be able to do this, since it does take real time and effort and sometimes money, too …

Anyway, you can get Heart of Fire here.

And Scars of Fire here.

And DragonBirth here.

As for reading – I’ve been really busy so I haven’t read much in the last couple of months, so I don’t have an update on that! But that’ll probably change soon.

Now — I have a question for you, if you want to answer! Or share your own goals and progress 😀

How do you feel about illustrations in books? Do they add to the experience, or do you not care, or do you actually dislike them? In your opinion, what makes an illustration good – or bad?

Until next time!

May the Heartfire burn true in your heart and keep the Nightmare away!
