Hello!
It’s September, and hopefully I don’t forget anything important to share with you. A lot has happened, and I am certain I will forget some of it. I wrote a significant amount in the Storm WIP, and I don’t know when I will be ready to get that out, but I am really loving Moon and I am also enjoying the challenges of writing the story now that he and my other MC, Sun, are together. Communication is a real challenge, because Moon is afraid of people, and especially of speaking, after everything he has been through. The fact that Sun is of his people really helps, but it’s still rough.
I am also enjoying writing Dragon-Mage #4 so far. I know, I know. Only #1 is out, and #2 is out to ARC readers and coming on October 10th, but I like to be more than a book ahead. It keeps me from being stressed, and keeps the creativity flowing well. Relationships are continually growing more complex and interesting, and I’m finally getting a real look into Sylvara and her past and how she became the way she is, and why in the world she feels about Camilla in the complex ways she does. I can’t talk about it too much without kind of spoiling the developments in the earlier books, but it’s fun. And seeing Camilla developing a friendship with someone new, and that relationship getting important enough that they are discussing some tough (for Camilla at least) topics is interesting. I wonder how they will handle it.
Okay, and then another big thing to share!
Kindred of the Sea has been selected by Kobo for their Labor Day Promotion, running August 31st to Sept. 4th, and I scheduled my discount price of 99cents to run an extra day.
You can check out the whole promotion here but if you just want to grab Kindred of the Sea here’s a simple link for that! If you’re new to the blog (or you’ve forgotten, no worries, I have a lot of books and more WIPs), Kindred of the Sea is my cozy standalone fantasy, featuring Corostomir and Aderan, two platonic lovers in the Valor Army who are sent to attack the elf nation of Elethri, and eventually end up on an ocean world with magical dolphins. It also has full-color illustrations for every chapter, and I want to emphasize: these are in the ebook! This is a wonderful opportunity to get an illustrated ebook for 99cents!
Featured Book
And, as always, here are more promotions and sales full of indie and self-published fantasy.
Lots of epic fantasy series here. Includes my YA Legend of the Singer duology and the available Dragon-Mage books. Ends on the 15th of September.
September Edgy Christian Fiction
Here are books that are Christian (or at least not offensive to Christian) that can be “edgy” or deal with situations not usually dealt with in Christian fiction or in ways that Christian fictions doesn’t treat them. Notably, my Epoch of the Promise novels are in this one, and they deal with some dark things without any attempt to reduce them. Trauma, grief, loss, torture. Questions.
That’s it for this month! But I’ll end with a question: what’s your favorite thing about Fall?
Mine might be the lightning! I love lightning storms! I also like the longer nights.
