Hello, everyone! It’s another Art Saturday! This time, we’ve got a landscape concept art that I painted digitally.
The Plains of Zharda lies between the mountains and the western sea, on the continent of Galen. They are cut off from the rest of the continent by the Mountains of the Sun’s Rising (as their people name the mountains; they have a different name on the other side) and the River of Death.
The people of the Plains of Zharda worship the Sun and the God(dess) of Storms. Thus I chose to represent the Plains under the Sun in a bright blue sky on the one side, the grass all yellowed by its summer rays, and under a lightning storm on the other side, green and fresh. In fact, running north-south as they do, the Plains feature a variety of climates, especially as the wind patterns and weather of Areaer goes through different cycles, so depending on when in that cycle one is, and where in the Plains one is, they can be anything from a desert, to a very rich steppelands, sometimes even forested.
They are the homeland of Kario Flameheart, from Heart of Fire, and much, much earlier in Areaer’s history, they are the homeland of Moon, the main character in one of my far-too-many Works-In-Progress.
